Many favours received by the pilgrims to Carfin Grotto have been recorded and pilgrims still continue to bring their petitions to lay at the shrine of Our lady.

The Grotto has been in existence for more than sixty years now. It is for present and future generations to hand on this strong love of Almighty God and His Blessed Mother.

1989 saw a new feature in the Grotto. The Chapel of the Glasgow Garden Festival was purchased at a costof £12,000. While the chapel was being built the tragedy of Lockerbie took place. The name of the aircraft was "Maid of the Seas". The original title of the chapel was to be "Star of the Sea" but due to this tragic event it was decided to call the chapel "Our Lady, Maid of the Seas".

God our Father

You gave the Holy Spirit to Your apostles
as the joined in prayer with Mary,
the Mother of Jesus.

By the help of her prayers
keep us faithful in Your service
and let our words and actions be so inspired
as to bring glory to Your name.

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your son
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit
one God, for ever and ever

Amen.
